X-Parameters™

X-Parameters® are advanced, measurement-based behavioral models that extend traditional S-Parameter techniques into the nonlinear operating region, enabling accurate simulation of RF and microwave devices under large-signal excitation. Unlike linear S-Parameters, which characterize device behavior only at small-signal operating conditions, X-Parameters® capture nonlinear effects such as harmonic generation, gain compression, frequency conversion, and impedance-dependent performance.

By preserving amplitude- and phase-dependent nonlinear behavior, X-Parameters® enable designers to predict real-world device performance with greater accuracy across a wide range of operating conditions. These models are particularly valuable for the design and analysis of amplifiers, mixers, frequency multipliers, and other nonlinear RF components, where traditional linear models may not adequately represent actual device behavior. The result is improved simulation fidelity, reduced design iterations, and greater confidence that circuit performance will correlate with measured hardware results.
