Noise Prediction

Modelithics models for amplifiers and transistors are often validated for noise parameters over broad frequency ranges. As a result, designers can predict noise performance when incorporating these models into a circuit design. Modelithics performs noise-parameter measurements using equipment from Keysight Technologies and Maury Microwave.

As an example, the AMPSP-GUR-GRF2072-001 model for the Guerrilla RF GRF2072 amplifier is validated for noise parameters from 250 MHz to 8 GHz. Noise parameter measurements were performed using a Keysight PNA-X network analyzer.

The HMT-MCL-TAV214LN model for the Mini-Circuits TAV2-14LN+ E-pHEMT transistor is an example of a transistor model that is validated for noise parameters. Shown below are the modeled and measured noise parameters for the TAV2-14LN+ E-pHEMT transistor from 4 to 18 GHz. Note that both the AMPSP-GUR-GRF2072-001 and HMT-MCL-TAV214LN models are available in the Modelithics COMPLETE Library™.

1/f Noise

A select number of transistor models are also validated for 1/f noise. This capability allows for accurate phase-noise predictions for oscillator designs.
